Grade 7 - Mathematics 1.9 Dividing Numbers Written in Scientific Notation
To Divide using Scientific Notation:
Divide decimal numbers with each other.
Use exponent rules to "combine" powers of 10.
If the answer is not in "correct" scientific notation, change to correct notation.
Example:
8.8 x 10^{5} / 2.2 x 10^{2}
= (8.8/2.2) x 10^{5-2} (Law of indicies: a^{m}/a^{n} = a^{m-n})
=4.0 x 10^{3}Directions: Divide the following numbers written in scientific notation and choose the correct answer. Also write atleast 5 examples of your own.
