Properties of Equalities
1.Reflexive Property:
Every number is equal to itself.
2.Symmetric Property:
If in two numbers, the first number is equal to second then the second is equal to the first.
If a, b are two numbers and a=b then b=a.
3.Transitive Property:
In three numbers, if the first number is equal to the second and second number is equal to the third, then the first number is equal to the third.
For any three numbers a, b, c. If a=b and b=c then a=c.
4.If a number is equal to each of two numbers separately, then these two numbers are equal to one another.
For any three numbers x, a, b. If x=a and x=b then a=b.
5.Addition Property:
If the same number is added to both sides of an equality, the equality is not altered.
For any three numbers a, b, c. If a=b then a+c = b+c.
6.Subtraction Property:
If the same number is subtracted from both sides of an equality, the equality is not altered.
For any three numbers a, b, c. If a=b then ac =bc.
7.Multiplication Property:
If both sides of an equality are multiplied by the same number, the equality is not altered.
For any three numbers a, b, c. If a=b, then ac=bc.
8.Division Property:
If both sides of an equality are divided by the same non zero number then the equality is not altered.
For any three numbers a, b, c and c¹0. if a=b then a/c=b/c.
