
Procedure: To multiply (a+b) and (c+d), think of (c+d) as a single number say 'x'. \(a+b)(c+d) = (a+b)x = ax+bx ......(Right Distributive Property) Substituting value of x, we get = a(c+d)+b(c+d) = ac+ad+bc+bd .....(Left Distributive Property) \(a+b)(c+d) = ac+ad+bc+bd
