MEAP Preparation - Grade 3 Mathematics
2.43 Adding Two Digit Numbers Horizontally

Method:
  1. Start by adding the numbers in ones place and then move to tens digit.
  2. If the sum of numbers in one place is a 2 digit number, we write the ones digit of the number in ones place and carry over the digit in tens place to the numbers in the tens place.

Example:
34+39
Start by adding numbers in ones place that is 9 and 4 which is 13.
Since this is a 2 digit number, we write 3 under ones place and add 1 to the numbers in tens place.
This gives us 3+3+1 in tens place.
Answer: 73

Directions: Find the sum of two numbers. Also write atleast 5 examples of your own.
