1.1 Multiplication as Repeated Addition

Method:

  1. Multiplication is a repeated addition.
  2. Instead of adding many times, just multiply the number by the number of times it appears.

Example: What is the multiplication form of 2+2+2+2+2+2?
Multiply 2 by the number of times it appears.
Answer: 2 X 6 = 12
Directions: Write the multiplication form of the following. Also write atleast 10 examples of your own.
Q 1: Write the multiplication form for 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
6 X 1 = 1
1 + 6 = 7
1 X 6 = 6

 Q 2: Write the multiplication form for 6 + 6 + 6 + 6
6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 24
6 x 5 = 30
6 x 4 = 24

Q 3: Write the multiplication form for 10 + 10 + 10 + 10
10 + 4 = 14
10 X 4 = 40
10 X 5 = 50

 Q 4: Write the multiplication form for 3 + 3
3 x 1 = 3
3 + 3 = 6
3 x 2 = 6

Q 5: Write the multiplication form for 4 + 4 + 4 + 4
4 X 4 = 16
4 X 3 = 12
4 + 4 = 8

 Q 6: Write the multiplication form for 13 + 13 + 13
13 X 1 = 13
13 + 3 = 16
13 X 3 = 39
