8.11 Convert Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers

To convert an improper fraction to mixed fraction:
  1. Divide the numerator by the denominator.
  2. The whole number part of the mixed fraction is the quotient
  3. The fractional part has the numerator as remainder and the divisor as the denominator.
  4. Mixed Fraction = Quotient Remainder/Divisor
Exaxmple: 47/ 5
On dividing, the quotient is 9 with a remainder 2.
Hence the mixed fraction 9 2/5
Answer: 9 2/5
