 If A(x1 , y1) and B(x2 , y2) are two points, then the mid-point of the segment joining AB is [(x1 + x2)/2 , (y1 + y2)/2] i.e., (Sum of x-coordinates/2 , Sum of y-coordinates/2). Example: Find the mid point of (5,6) and (7,8). Solution: Formula for mid point of the segment joining two points is [(x1 + x2)/2 , (y1 + y2)/2] = [(5 + 7)/2 , (6 + 8)/2] = (12/2 , 14/2) = (6,7) Therefore, the mid point of (5,6) and (7,8) is (6,7).
