Distance Between Two Points

The distance between two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is [(x2 - x1)2 + (y2 - y1)2].

Example:
Find the distance between the points (2,9) and (4,7).
Solution:
Formula for this problems is [(x2 - x1)2 + (y2 - y1)2].
Substituting the values in the above formula
= [(4 - 2)2 + (7 - 9)2]
= [(2)2 + (-2)2]
= (4 + 4)
= 8
Therefore, the distance of the points (2,9) and (4,7) is 8.
