 Formula: If (x1, y1) and (x2,y2) are any two points on a line the ration (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) is constant called the slope of the line, and it is denoted by m. Therefore, m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) or (y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2). The slope is a ratio of vertical to horizontal distances. Slope = rise/run. Example: If (3,4) and (5,6) are two points on a line find its slope. Solution: Given that two points (3,4) and (5,6) Using above formula m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) m = (6-4)/(5-3) m = 2/2 m = 1 Directions: Find the slopes of the given lines. Also write at least ten equations of your own and find their slopes.
