High School Mathematics - 2
9.4 Slope - II

Example - I:
Find the slope of the line 3x + 3y = 0.
To find the slope of this line, we will convert this equation in the form of y = mx.
i.e., 2x + 3y = 0
3y = -2x
y = (-2/3)x
The above equation is in the form of y = mx and its slope is m.
Therefore, slope of the line is -2/3.

Example - II:
Find the slope of the line 3x + 2y - 8 = 0.
The given equation in the form of ax + by + c = 0,
The slope of this line is -a/b.
Here a = 3 and b = 2
Therefore, the slope of the line is -3/2.

Directions: Find the slopes of the given lines. Also write at least ten equations of your own and find their slopes.
Q 1: Find the slope of the line, 5x + 2y = 0
