4.33 Curved Surface Area of Cone



Curved Surface Area S = pi * r * l
where l is the slant height
= 1/2 (Circumference of base) * slant height
= (1/2) C * l
Curved Surface Area = = (1/2) C * l

Example:
The slant height of a cone is 10cm. the diameter of the base if 15cm. Find the curved surface area of cone.
Solution:
Given that,
Slant height = 10cm.
Diameter = 15cm.
radius = d/2 = 15/2 = 7.5cm.
Curved surface area = pi * r * l
= 22/7 * 7.5 * 10
= 235.7142 Sq. cm.
= 235.41 Sq. cm. (Converted into two decimal places)
