Grade 7 - Mathematics 9.59 Volume of the Cube - II

Example:
The total surface area of cube is 216 sq cm. Find its volume.

Solution:
Let the edge of the cube is s cm.
Then its total surface area is 6s^{2} sq cm.
Hence 6s^{2} = 216
s^{2} = 36
s = square root of 36
Therefore s = 6
The volume of the cube = s^{3}
s^{3} = 6^{3} = 216 cubic centimeters.
